The government will launch a new tourism initiative named “Visit Sri Lanka” in the coming months, according to President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The President reportedly stated that the idea is in its last stages of preparation and will be made public as soon as it is finished, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).
The President emphasised the tourism sector as a vital economic driver and announced that the government plans to bring in 5 million tourists, of which 2.5 million will be high-end travellers.
Sri Lanka can accommodate up to 10 million visitors, the most of whom will come from Asia and the Indian Ocean region, according to Indian estimates.
