Suren Raghavan, a state minister, claims that during the all-party meeting presided over by President Ranil Wickremesinghe on Wednesday (July 26), there was disagreement among the Tamil political parties.

The purpose of the conference was to provide political party leaders in the parliament with an update on the North-East Development Plan and the National Reconciliation Programme. All political parties having representatives in the parliament were present, with the exception of the National People’s Power (NPP).

Commenting on the meeting, Raghavan claimed that the leaders of the Tamil political parties did not share a clear understanding of what they genuinely want.

The politician said that MPs M.A. Sumanthiran, C. V. Vigneswaran, and other Tamil lawmakers had divergent views on the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, local government elections, and the devolution of power to the Tamil community.
