Today (July 27), manufacturers informed Finance State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya that schoolbag and shoe prices had been reduced by 10%.
This was said during a conversation that took place in the Finance Ministry.
The price cut is the result of protracted negotiations between the state minister and the producers that lasted several rounds.
The producers also informed the lawmaker that they planned to increase the prices at which the market currently offered schoolbags and shoes.
