According to Kanchana Wijesekara, minister of power and energy, the government intends to use the Eastern Province’s natural resources to promote offshore and onshore wind power, ground mount solar for renewable energy integration, and green hydrogen development.
Wijesekara claimed he recently spoke with Senthil Thondaman, the province’s governor, on plans to strengthen the energy sector in the Eastern Province.
The Governor promised his full assistance to develop the sector with the relevant approvals and the identification of land, the Minister wrote in a tweet.
