The Statutory Reserve Ratio (SRR) on all liabilities for rupee deposits held by Licenced Commercial Banks (LCBs) would be decreased, as decided by the Monetary Board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
As a result, CBSL announced, the SRR applicable to all rupee deposit liabilities of LCBs will be decreased by 200 basis points, from 4% to 2%.
The relevant reduction will take effect on Wednesday, August 16th, the first day of the reserve maintenance period.
The choice was made during yesterday’s (8 August) Monetary Board meeting.
