The necessity to create a unique visa category for SAARC nations like India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives has been discussed by the Sectoral Oversight Committee on International Relations.
According to a statement from the Parliamentary Communications Department, the Sectoral Oversight Committee on International Relations convened in Parliament on Tuesday, August 8th, with MP Namal Rajapaksa serving as its chairman.
During a discussion on Sri Lanka’s foreign policy on behalf of the SAARC nations, MP Namal Rajapaksa emphasised the significance of creating a specific category of visas for SAARC nations including India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives in the areas of health and education. As a result, he declared that the Committee will suggest creating a system of considerately providing visas for these nations.
The Committee recommended that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs concentrate on developing a mechanism for launching internships for different programmes run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As a result, the Committee made the point that this programme should be set up so that all sectors are represented and that foreigners should be able to participate.
