Another instance of medical malpractice occurred yesterday at the Intensive Care Unit of the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital when a baby died after falling on the floor of the delivery room at the time of delivery due to staff incompetence.

This unfortunate incident occurred to a lady who was brought to the Anuradhapura Hospital to give birth to her child. The mother is from the hamlet of “Kallanchiya” in the Anuradhapura District.

Kumarasinghe Dissanayake, her 41-year-old husband, reported that his wife had been admitted to the Kallanchchiya Hospital. There were issues for her. She was transported in an ambulance to the hospital in Anuradhapura. She was then directed to the delivery room for labour. Because the medical staff was unable to hold the baby during delivery, my baby had fallen to the ground.

The baby’s body is currently at the mortuary for additional research.

Despite the fact that the infant had not grown adequately, the doctor claimed that they had not discussed the fall.
We were unable to reach Hospital Director Dulan Samaraweera for comment.

The postmortem, however, proved that the infant had fallen.
