In the early hours of today morning (14), a collision between a private bus and a lorry on Duplication Road near Bullers Junction in the Bambalapitiya Police Division resulted in at least 07 people being hurt and being hospitalised.
According to the police, a private bus headed from Colombo to Kataragama collided with a truck heading from Thummulla and overturned on the highway.
Two girls and five males who were injured have been brought to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment. There were about 15 passengers in the bus at the time of the accident.
According to investigations, the bus ran a red light, which is what caused the collision.
The Bambalapitiya Police is carrying out additional inquiries.
