The Ministry of Finance has been criticised by the Committee on Public Finance (COPF) for delaying taking legal action to recoup the loss brought on by Sri Lanka’s Sugar Tax Scam.
The COPF reportedly questioned the Finance Ministry over the matter during a meeting that was presided over by the pro-tem Chair MP Patali Champika Ranawaka last week (Aug. 08), according to a statement from the Parliament.
The Committee questioned why action in this regard had not yet been taken by the Inland Revenue Department after consulting with the Attorney General.
