The Norochcholai Coal Power Plant’s second generator has been reconnected to the national grid. NewsRadio was informed by the Ceylon Electricity Board that the generator was connected to the grid last night.
One of the three units of the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant experienced another breakdown on August 8th, adding to the strain on the nation’s ability to produce electricity, especially at a time when hydro-power output has been badly impacted by a drought.
According to the CEB, just one of the power plant’s generators was operational as a result of the breakdown, and it adds 300 megawatts of electricity to the national grid.
