Foreign Minister Affirmed Sri Lanka’s Position on Palestine

The Sri Lanka Committee for Solidarity with Palestine convened a pivotal discussion on Monday (15) with Foreign Minister Ali Sabri at his ministry office. The objective was to elucidate Sri Lanka’s stance on the Palestine matter, as the nation forges stronger ties with the occupying forces in Palestine.

The committee comprised with Bimal Ratnayake, Co-Chairman of the Sri Lanka Palestine Solidarity Committee, Fouzer Farooq, General Secretary and distinguished members and esteemed senior journalists Ameen Izzadeen, Daya Lankapura, and Hana Ibrahim were also in attendance.

The delegation provided the Minister with a comprehensive overview of the current predicaments faced by the Palestinian populace. They highlighted the disparities and challenges prevalent within the country, shedding light on the perspectives of Sri Lanka’s leaders who have held office since 1972 regarding the Palestine issue.

Minister Alizabri, in his address, reiterated Sri Lanka’s steadfast commitment to the fundamental principle of self-determination for the Palestinian people, aligning with Sri Lanka’s historical stance. He emphasized the pressing need for a expeditious resolution through a two-state framework, in line with the United Nations resolution.
