One day before the employee’s retirement, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera requested a report on the recent elevation of the female Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) official.
Minister Wijesekera said on Twitter that the report was required at a meeting with the CEB’s chairman, general manager, and directors that took place this morning.
He added that the board resolution made in 2020 that was to take effect starting in 2025 was to be implemented immediately after receiving approval from the Ministry for senior management promotions at the CEB.
According to the decision, the minimum service time needed for promotions to the posts of Deputy General Manager (DGM) and Assistant General Manager (AGM) is 3 years and 2 years, respectively.
Instructions were also issued to suggest candidates for the role of GM who have past administrative experience and at least three years of service left before retirement, he said, as the present GM will be departing next month.
The CEB’s reform process, electricity generating plans, asset management, lowering administrative and operating costs, and related concerns were also discussed, according to Minister Wijesekera.
