The Registrar General’s Department has declared that no duplicate copies of birth, death, or marriage certificates in Sri Lanka need to have a validity term.
The government emphasised in a statement that all duplicate birth, death, and marriage certificates will be accepted without a time limit.
The agency said that it has decided to change the previous rule that documents have a six-month validity period starting from the date of issuance.
The department will accept all certificate copies without regard to the validity term, according the most recent judgement.
