Bag with Rs. 5 mn worth of jewellery left behind on train returned to owners

It was claimed that a suitcase with jewellery inside that had unintentionally been left on a train and was valued over Rs. 5 million had been returned to its owners.

When inspecting a train that had just finished its journey and was making its way back to the Maligawatte Railway yard, security personnel for the railway discovered the bag.

According to reports, the couple from Kandy was travelling with a number of baggage and had left the bag containing the jewellery under the seat.

At Colombo Fort, the pair exited the train on their way back to Colombo from Matara, leaving the bag behind.
