A Chinese national was detained after using a drone to try to snag the Kubal Perahera of the Esala Perahera inside the Sri Dalada Maligawa complex in Kandy.
The Chinese national had reportedly been detained by the Kandy Police on suspicion.
Investigations have shown that the Chinese national, who is a guest at a hotel in Kandy, flew the drone from his hotel room window at about 9:30 p.m. on Monday (21), according to the findings.
According to reports, the Chinese person arrived in Sri Lanka on Sunday, made his way to Kandy, and arrived at his hotel on Monday.
The incident is still under investigation by the Kandy Police.
