Manusha Nanayakkara, the minister of labour and foreign employment, claimed that the Department of Immigration and Emigration was not aiding the government’s attempts to stop human trafficking.
According to Minister Nanyakkara, airport employees in a variety of departments encouraged illegal immigration for overseas employment.
At yesterday’s opening of the Safe Migration Promotion Unit at Katunayake’s Bandaranaike International Airport, he made the comments.
He claimed that certain government personnel were reluctant to perform their duties today since some of them had been into difficulty for executing their jobs well.
