According to data compiled by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), over 860,000 tourist arrivals have been registered so far in 2023.
The SLTDA announced that a total of 866,744 tourist arrivals have been recorded since January of this year, of which 98,831 have been recorded in the first 20 days of August.
While the bulk of visitors to the island have been recognised as being of Indian descent, there have also been significant numbers of British and Chinese visitors.
