The Central Environmental Authority (CEA) today declared that certain single-use plastic goods will be banned from production and sale in Sri Lanka starting in October.
According to the Central Environmental Authority, the prohibition will take effect on October 1, 2023.
One-time-use plastic items such drinking straws, cups, plates, knives, forks, spoons, string hopper trays, garlands, etc. will be subject to the prohibition.
