Premalal Jayasekara, the state minister for ports, shipping, and aviation, has charged Nimal Siripala de Silva, the minister of ports, for blocking him from performing his duties.
State Minister Jayasekara said in a statement to the media yesterday (August 22) that the minister needed the state minister’s support to carry out ministry business.
“We attracted a number of investors, but as we tried to start up, we ran across a number of roadblocks. This is true because ministry employees simply follow the minister’s instructions and don’t listen to the state minister, the official claimed.
State Minister Jayasekara disclosed that the ministry’s senior staff members are acting in this way.
