The disturbing amount of sea turtle carcasses that have recently washed ashore has drawn the attention of the Department of Wildlife Conservation.
Accordingly, the Department said that since Tuesday (August 22), 22 turtle carcasses had been discovered around Sri Lanka’s west coast, including the four that were discovered today (August 25) on the beaches of Panadura, Wellawatte, and Galle Face.
The National Aquatic Research and Development Agency (NARA) and the Department of Wildlife Conservation are conducting investigations into the situation as a result, and preparations are being made to take the case to court.
