Tonight’s final Randoli procession will begin. Tonight, on Nikini full moon Poya day, the last Randoli procession of the Kandy Esala celebration is set to take place.
At the lucky hour of 7:03 p.m., the procession will leave Sri Dalada Maligawa and travel down Dalada Veediya, Yatinuwara Veediya, Kande Veediya, D.S. Senanayake Veediya, and Raja Veediya before returning to Sri Dalada Maligawa.
On Thursday morning (31), at the Getambe ferry, the Water Cutting ritual will be held after the final Randoli procession.
At 2:39 a.m., the procession for the water-cutting ceremony departs from Sri Dalada Maligawa and travels to Gedige Rajamaha Vihara, where the relics’ coffin will be put.
After performing traditional rituals in the four Devalas the procession will arrive at the Getambe ferry for the water cutting ceremony.
