Sri Lanka sees sharp increase in workers’ remittances in July 2023

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) reports that in July 2023, both worker remittances and tourist arrivals increased noticeably in Sri Lanka.

According to the CBSL’s most recent report on the performance of the external sector, worker remittances increased to USD 541 million in July 2023 from USD 279 million in the same month in 2022.

In contrast to the 100,388 tourists who arrived in June 2023, there were 143,039 tourists this June.
