A ‘Level 03’ red alert for landslip concerns has been issued by the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) for the Ratnapura District’s Eheliyagoda Divisional Secretariat Division.
A ‘Amber’ landslip early warning has also been issued for a number of locations in the districts of Kalutara, Kegalle, and Ratnapura.
Kalutara District – Bulathsinhala and Ingiriya Divisional Secretariat Divisions
Kegalle District – Warakapola Divisional Secretariat Division
Ratnapura District – Ratnapura and Kuruwita Divisional Secretariat Divisions
In the meantime, more time has been added to the Level 01 warnings issued for a number of locations in the aforementioned districts.
Galle District – Baddegama, Elpitiya and Nagoda Divisional Secretariat Divisions
Kalutara District – Palindanuwara, Mathugama and Walallawita Divisional Secretariat Divisions
Kegalle District – Bulathkohupitiya, Dehiowita, Deraniyagala, Yatiyantota and Ruwanwella Divisional Secretariat Divisions
Ratnapura District – Kiriella, Ayagama and Kalawana Divisional Secretariat Divisions
The pertinent early warnings for landslides will be in place until 10.30 p.m. on Monday (Sep 04).
Therefore, residents of these locations are recommended to exercise caution because landslides, slope collapses, rock falls, cutting failures, and ground subsidence are all potential hazards.
