According to President Ranil Wickremesinghe, he has started laying the foundation for an educational system appropriate for the twenty-first century by soliciting advice from specialists, foreign countries, and student parliaments, the PMD reports.
The Head of State interacted amicably with the 140 student representatives who went to the Presidential Secretariat during a recent meeting with the student parliament of Sivali Central College in Ratnapura.
In the course of the conversation, Wickremesinghe gave a history and an explanation of the structure and function of the Presidential Secretariat in Sri Lanka’s government decision-making process.
Additionally, he discussed intentions to create ten new universities in the nation and to make it easier for students to pursue higher education in England and the US by way of student loans.
