According to the Ministry of Defence, the necessary arrangements have been made to pay stipends to disabled tri-forces members who leave the service due to medical reasons due to disabilities acquired during the terrorist war up until the age of 55 and then for the rest of their lives as well as the lives of their widows.
To be eligible for the aforementioned stipend, however, a widow of a disabled service member who passes away before turning 55 must have a medical board certify that the cause of death was directly related to the service member’s impairment.
The ministry added in a statement that if a crippled service member passes away from any other cause and the medical board cannot certify that the death was directly related to the disability, the widow will only be eligible for the Widow’s and Orphan’s Pension.
Due to this, the affected widows have reportedly requested that their stipend and pay continue to be paid, according to the Defence Ministry.
The ministry claims that in light of these petitions, it has taken actions to secure the Cabinet’s consent for granting them assistance.
