Mahinda Amaraweera, the minister of agriculture, has guaranteed that the price of eggs and poultry will probably go down next year and then stay steady.
Additionally, according to Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, importation of eggs won’t be required starting in 2019.
The minister made the comments while appearing at a press conference that was conducted at the Presidential Media Centre yesterday (Sept. 14), according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).
Despite being self-sufficient, Minister Amaraweera noted that Sri Lanka’s poultry and egg production business had suffered a drop since the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crisis had lowered the amount of animal feed produced. With more than 3,420,000 chickens across all farms, the private sector currently handles all of the country’s poultry and egg output.
