Beginning on October 1, 2023, the Minimum Room Rates (MRR) for Colombo City Hotels will be in force as announced in the Gazette.
The General Managers of the hotels have been publicly informed in this regard, Priantha Fernando, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
Colombo City Hotels must fully abide by the Gazette notification and guarantee uniformity in room rates in order to comply with the new regulation, which introduces a set of standards aimed at standardising room pricing across distribution channels.
The MRR structure has been established to take into account various hotel categories in terms of costs for corporate and free independent travellers (FIT), according to the Gazette notification.
