On Monday morning (September 18), Kanchana Wijesekera, the minister of power and energy, had a visit from Marc-André Franche, the UN Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka.
During the discussion, the two parties discussed a wide variety of issues, including government policies, plans for renewable energy, the structure of the electrical sector reform, and financial support and green financing options for renewable energy.
It was also brought up for discussion to develop a system to help low-income families defray their electricity expenditures.
