Increase in young people dying due to heart attacks- Colombo Coroner

According to Colombo Coroner attorney-at-law Iresha Samaraweera, 100 people under the age of 50 died from heart attacks and diabetes out of the 1,500 autopsies performed by the Coroner’s Court at the Colombo National Hospital in the last three months.

She added that heart attacks and diabetes were responsible for 200 fatalities of adults in the 50 to 60 age range.

She said that heart attacks caused one-third of the sudden fatalities that happened during the relevant period, and that the number of young people dying from heart attacks is on the rise,
