President Ranil Wickremesinghe actively participated in two key occasions in New York that coincided with the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).
The Business Council for International Understanding and the Sri Lankan Embassy in the United States of America collaborated to host a high-profile business roundtable discussion on “Economic Opportunities in Sri Lanka” yesterday (18 September). President Wickremesinghe participated in it.
More than 40 American companies interested in learning more about the trade and investment opportunities in Sri Lanka attended the business roundtable.
They were accompanied by significant business figures from Sri Lanka as well as a delegation of top government representatives from the US. The goal of this conversation was to promote economic prospects and improve bilateral connections between the two countries.
In the meantime, President Wickremesinghe took part in the “Conference on Sustainable Development Goals – 2023,” which kicked out yesterday at the UN Headquarters and looked at innovative ways to promote the pursuit of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
On this occasion, Saman Ekanayake, the president’s secretary, Aruni Wijewardena, the secretary of the ministry of foreign affairs, and Ruwan Wijewardena, the president’s senior advisor on climate change, were also present.
