Ajay Banga, the president of the World Bank, praised Sri Lanka on Monday, September 18, for its dedication to reforms and emphasised the significance of credibility in the nation’s strategy.
Mr. Banga told Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe that the World Bank is actively engaged in advisory work during their warm meeting and urged the island nation to rely on their support.
At the World Bank Headquarters (UNHQ), the Sri Lankan team, led by President Ranil Wickremesinghe, held high-level negotiations with the president of the World Bank and other representatives. Numerous important issues, such as economic changes, agriculture, tourism, and digitization, have been the focus of the summit.
The head of the World Bank welcomed Sri Lanka’s emphasis on tourism and emphasised its potential for job generation. In addition to offering help with digitization, renewable energy, and education, he referenced negotiations concerning ports and trade.
The possibility of working with India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal on connecting electrical grids was also highlighted by Mr. Banga.
