The Buttala region has experienced a mild tremor with a Richter Scale magnitude of 2.4.
Geological Survey and Mines Bureau reports that the light tremor occurred yesterday (25) at approximately 11.20 p.m.
The tiny tremor, which took place in a region around one kilometre deep into the earth, was captured on record by each of the nation’s four seismic stations.
There have, however, been no reports of any harm brought on by this slight tremor.
