In order to attend the Berlin Global Dialogue, which will take place on September 28 and 29, 2023 in Berlin, President Ranil Wickremesinghe departed the island this morning, September 27, early for Germany.

In order to develop global answers to the current geopolitical and economic difficulties, corporate and policy leaders come together at the Berlin Global Dialogue, an international event.

Several international delegations, including those led by Google’s Matt Brittin and the presidents of the European Council and the International Bank of America’s Bernard Mensah, will attend this year’s event.

The President’s Media Division (PMD) announced that the Head of State of Sri Lanka is set to give the opening comments at the Leaders’ Dialogue session on the first day of the conference, where he would discuss climate change and debt restructuring.

According to the PMD, Wickremesinghe will also meet with other German political and business heavyweights, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, outside of the dialogue.

In the interim, State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe has been named Acting Finance Minister to manage the department’s affairs while President Wickremesinghe is away.
