Sri Lanka has requested direct communication with the US and Japan only on issues pertaining to their own geopolitical concerns.
According to reliable sources, Foreign Minister Ali Sabry recently met with leaders from these nations, including U.S. Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, and delivered this message to them.
On the fringes of the UN General Assembly, the minister attended a number of bilateral meetings.
