The Meteorology Department has issued a ‘Amber’ warning for heavy rains in the Southern Province as well as in the Kalutara and Ratnapura districts.
As a result, several locations in the aforementioned areas are likely to see heavy showers greater than 100 mm.
Due to the active southwest monsoon conditions across the island, the current showery situation in the south-western section of the island is anticipated to persist.
