Vehicle traffic on the Duplication Road in Kollupitiya has resumed following the removal of the fallen tree that had obstructed it.
Five persons were killed and twelve others were hurt when a huge tree fell on a passenger bus in the early morning hours.
Police and air force officials managed to free everyone who was trapped inside the bus, and they were all taken straight to the Colombo National Hospital for quick medical attention. But five of them later died from their wounds.
The collision happened on the Deniyaya-bound bus, which had left Pettah early in the day, close to the Liberty Roundabout in Kollupitiya.
