Five people were tragically killed today when a huge tree fell into a passenger bus travelling from Colombo to Deniyaya in a sad incident on Duplication Road in Colpetty.
A huge tree abruptly collapsed onto the bus during what appeared to be a typical trip, severely damaging it and tragically taking one life. A busy road in Colpetty, Duplication Road, was swiftly temporarily closed as emergency personnel arrived on the site to deal with the disaster’s aftermath.
The Deputy Director of the National Hospital reported that several other passengers who survived the incident are currently receiving medical treatment. The extent of their injuries remains to be determined as medical teams work tirelessly to provide them with the necessary care and support.
