Annular solar eclipse tomorrow

According to Prof. Chandana Jayaratne, head of the physics department at Colombo University, an annular solar eclipse will take place on Saturday, October 14, however it won’t be visible from Sri Lanka.

The USA, along with some of Mexico, Central America, Colombia, and Brazil, can see tomorrow’s annular solar eclipse.

This solar eclipse starts at 8.34 p.m. local time on October 14 in the USA and concludes at 2.25 a.m. local time on October 15 somewhere near Brazil.

But according to Prof. Chandana Jayaratne, Sri Lanka would be able to see a partial lunar eclipse on October 28 at night.

The partial lunar eclipse will start on October 28 at 11.32 p.m. and terminate on October 29 at 3.56 a.m.

Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, North America, much of South America, the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Arctic, and Antarctica can all see this moon eclipse.

According to Prof. Jayaratne, Sri Lanka will be able to see this eclipse’s partial phase on October 29 in the early morning from 1.05 a.m. to 2.23 a.m., with the maximum eclipse occurring at 1.44 a.m.
