In light of the rising tension between Israel and Palestine, former president Mahinda Rajapaksa paid a visit to the Palestine Embassy in Colombo today to show his support for the Palestinian people.
Former President Rajapaksa stated that there was no place for terrorism anywhere in the world and that war was not the answer during conversations with the Palestinian Ambassador.
Rajapaksa emphasised the need for peace, saying that it bears the promise of prosperity for citizens of both countries, drawing on Sri Lanka’s own experiences with war.
As the founder and president of the Sri Lanka Society for Solidarity with Palestine, I have continuously backed the Palestinian cause. War is never the answer, said the former president.
