As a result of the expulsion of former minister Naseer Ahamed, Ali Zahir Moulana Seiyad of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) was sworn in as a Member of Parliament this morning, October 17.
Shortly after the start of the current session, he took his oaths in front of Speaker of Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
After Naseer Ahamed supported the Budget 2022 and the 20th Amendment to the Constitution, the SLMC expelled him from the party in April 2022.
