Today (18) saw the start of the third Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) summit, hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping, which is a significant development for global collaboration.

President Xi Jinping introduced a series of comprehensive measures during the conference that are in line with the Belt and Road Initiative and demonstrate its dedication to forging international alliances.

President Xi Jinping emphasised that the Belt and Road Initiative serves as a modern-day reimagining of the old Silk Road and is based on the values of peace, mutual assistance, and friendship. He emphasised that the initiative’s advantages span numerous nations in addition to just one.

The prestigious Great Hall of the People in Beijing hosted the third Belt and Road Initiative forum’s opening ceremony. More than 130 countries were represented, including heads of state from about 20 different countries.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe joined other world leaders in a display of unity at the opening ceremony, where they received military honours and posed with the Chinese President for a group photo.

The “Belt and Road” idea is built on cooperation, not competition or repression, according to President Xi Jinping. He reaffirmed that international cooperation and support result in favourable outcomes for all parties.
