The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) restructuring plans are scheduled to be presented to the Cabinet of Ministers the next week, according to Kanchana Wijesekera, minister of power and energy.

Shehan Semasinghe, State Minister of Finance, announced on Sunday (October 22) that steps are being taken to hasten the reform of public institutions.

In order to address the current economic crisis, Semasinghe noted that the restructuring project of state entities that are incurring losses is now being carried out successfully.

It was discussed earlier this year that the CEB would be reorganised in a way that would reform its management structure in order to enable Sri Lanka to encourage the generation of renewable energy with the help of the government, corporate and public partnerships, and other factors.

On April 17, the recommended schedule and roadmap for the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) restructuring process were accepted by the Cabinet of Ministers.
