Nimal Bandara, the ambassador of Sri Lanka to Israel, reports that Anula Jayathilake’s body was identified by her relatives at Petah Tikva in Israel after she was murdered in the Hamas-Israel confrontation.
According to a story published on Sunday (22), a decision had been made to conduct a DNA test in order to establish the identify of the body of the Sri Lankan carer who had been reported missing originally and later identified as dead by Israeli police.
As a result, the appropriate DNA test was to be conducted using samples taken from her sister, two children, and herself, with the pertinent DNA samples being sent to Israel.
Anula Jayathilake’s death in the most recent strikes carried out by the Palestinian militant organisation Hamas in Israel was officially acknowledged last week.
Two Sri Lankan women who were living in Israel at the time were initially reported missing amid the hostilities that broke out between Israel and Palestine.
The Israeli authorities declared one of them, Anula Jayathilake, deceased. According to sources, she died after an attack carried out by the Palestinian militant organisation Hamas.
A few days later, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Tel Aviv received her remains.
