Julie Chung, the US ambassador to Sri Lanka, has emphasised the importance of fairness in Sri Lanka’s debt restructuring by emphasising the necessity of treating all creditors equally.
During a meeting with Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Ambassador Chung made the comments.
She took to ‘X’ and wrote, “Today, during our meeting with the Governor of @CBSL, I offered my congratulations on the staff-level agreement of the IMF, signifying progress in Sri Lanka’s quest to get the second IMF instalment.
Ambassador Chung reiterated the necessity for equity in Sri Lanka’s debt restructuring and stressed the importance of transparency from all parties.
