President Ranil Wickremesinghe has stated that embracing information technology (IT) is now a need rather than a choice, highlighting the critical role that digital transformation plays in ensuring Sri Lanka’s economic growth.

According to a press release from the President’s Media Division (PMD), the Head of State delivered these comments on Wednesday, October 25, during the National ICT Awards NBQSA 2023, which were hosted in Colombo. The Chartered Institute for IT – Sri Lanka Section of the British Computer Society was in charge of organising the event.

President Wickremesinghe used this opportunity to deliver a crucial message: everyone needs to understand the importance of the future.

The president underlined that each person’s future is in their control and that their achievements are inextricably linked to the success of the country. “The future is in your hands and your success is the country’s success,” he said, wishing everyone well on their journey ahead.

Wickremesinghe also presented a clear vision for the future of Sri Lanka, signalling a critical turn towards advancement and group responsibility. The president emphasised the value of teamwork as the country prepares for the new year and emphasised that cooperation between the public and government is essential for success.
