Due to an altercation with multiple officials of the Welisara Bus Depot, the drivers of the private passenger transport buses that run on Route No. 273 from Ja-Ela to Negombo have gone on strike.
The drivers who are on strike claim that they were recently attacked by a bunch of Welisara SLTB Bus Depot executives.
But according to reports, the Officer-in-Charge of the Ja-Ela Police Station intervened to deploy a bus from the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) Bus Depot on the disputed route so as to prevent any disturbance to travellers.
