According to a Cabinet Spokesman, the Value-Added Tax (VAT) would be raised starting in the following year, with permission from the Cabinet of Ministers.
Minister Bandula Gunawardena announced today, October 31, at the Cabinet press briefing that the VAT rate will increase to 18% from January 1, 2024.
