Angelo Mathews of Sri Lanka became the first hitter in the 146-year history of international cricket to be TIMED OUT. As per the rules of the tournament, a player has two minutes to begin his innings.

The helmet strap broke as Angelo Mathews got to bat, so he had to wait for a replacement to be supplied. Shaking, the captain of Bangladesh, filed an appeal during this wait, and the umpires decided in the team’s favour.

Commentating, former Pakistan great Waqar Younis said that Bangladesh’s request to have Angelo Mathews timed out was against the spirit of cricket.
