According to Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera, Secretary General of the Sri Lanka Parliament, President Ranil Wickremesinghe, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, is expected to present the Appropriation Bill (Budget) for the fiscal year 2024 in the Parliament on Monday, November 13.
On October 19, 2023, while serving as the chairman of the Committee on Parliamentary Business, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana reached a consensus in this respect.
The Secretary General then announced that the Second Reading debate of the 2024 Budget will take place for seven days, from November 14 to November 21, excluding Sundays.
Moreover, November 21 at 6:00 p.m. is when the Second Reading of the Budget vote is supposed to take place.
