According to the findings of a recent survey, the Ministry of Health has observed a rise in the number of diabetic patients in Sri Lanka.
Speaking on the subject, Consultant Community Physician Dr. Arundika Senaratne disclosed that the poll indicates that 14.6% of the nation’s population has diabetes.
Dr. Senaratne went on to explain the survey in more detail, stating that it is carried out every five years with the agreement of the World Health Organisation on a sample of people in the nation who are between the ages of 18 and 69.
As a result, the Consultant Community Physician expressed alarm over the clearly rising number of diabetic patients in Sri Lanka, noting that the percentage of those individuals was just 7.4% in 2015.
